About SourceDimension
A browsable library of software — open source, freeware, shareware and commercial — built to help people find good tools quickly, without the clutter most download sites bury you in.
Why this exists
Finding trustworthy software online is harder than it should be. Search results are crowded with sites that repackage installers, bury the real download link behind ads, or don't tell you what license something is even under. SourceDimension exists to fix that: pick a category, see what's available, read a plain description, and go straight to the source.
How we decide what to list
Every entry is chosen for being genuinely useful and well-regarded in its category — not because anyone paid for placement.
- We never host installers ourselves. Every download link goes straight to the project's own official site.
- We only embed videos we've personally verified come from a project's real, official channel. If we haven't confirmed one, the card says so honestly instead of showing something unverified.
- License and platform info is listed as accurately as we can manage, and corrected if we get something wrong — if you spot an error, we want to know.
How the site supports itself
SourceDimension is free to use and always will be. It's supported by a small amount of advertising and optional donations from people who find it useful — never by paid placement of software in the listings themselves.
Who's behind it
SourceDimension is an independent, two-person project, built because we wanted the kind of software directory we couldn't find anywhere else.
